<image:title>FAQ - How long are typical sessions? A: Sessions range from 45-60 minutes depending on clients’ preference. How many therapy sessions are needed? A: Again, this varies on the client or couples’ needs. Length of treatment is a collaborative decision between therapist and client(s). Groups will have more specified session count depending on the group’s focus. Do you take insurance? A: I am an out-of-network provider. Please contact me for rates. How do I book a session? A: I offer a 10 minute phone consultation for free. Please go to the contact section to set up your consultation.</image:title>

<image:title>FAQ - Do I need dance experience? A: No! No experience is necessary. Dance/movement therapy focuses on moving how you feel and feeling how you move. Movement is a tool in the therapeutic experience. It is used for exploration and discovery with zero judgment. What if I am injured or physically limited in my movement? A: I welcome you just as you are and I will meet you there. Connections can be made in the body without physically moving it and rather through mind, body, and spirit. The client is in control of their movement and their boundaries. I will ensure a safe space. All bodies, minds, and spirits happily welcomed.</image:title>

<image:title>FAQ - What do I need to prepare for a Dance/Movement Therapy session? A: Come as you are! Some clients enter the space with a clear challenge or goal, while others discover what they need as they are in the process. There is usually a mix of both, unique to the individual, couple, or group. What does a session look like? A: Each session varies dependent upon what is brought into the session. Some sessions may move for the entire duration of the session, while others may include minimal gestures or postures. Other sessions will include stillness as the movement. Multi-modal options including drama, music, and art therapy techniques may be offered during sessions depending on the client(s) needs and preference.</image:title>

<image:title>About - What is Dance/Movement Therapy (DMT)? The American Dance Therapy Association defines Dance/Movement Therapy as “as the psychotherapeutic use of movement to promote emotional, social, cognitive and physical integration of the individual.” A Little Bit About Me…</image:title>
<image:caption>I started exploring movement in the womb (much to my mother’s amusement), and have yet to stop. At the root of my passion is expression, which translated into my professional goals. I received my E-RYT 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in the Winter of 2012 and continue to attend yoga trainings and teach private yoga clients. Ultimately, my deep love and evolving knowledge of transformation, emotional, and physical support through the mind, body, and breath connection led me to obtain my Masters’ Degree in Dance/Movement Therapy (DMT) from Pratt Institute. At Pratt, I experienced the profound effects ignited in the psyche/soma connection during DMT sessions as an intern in inpatient psych (first year) and the Methadone Clinic (second year) at Bellevue Hospital. I graduated from Pratt with a M.S. in Dance/Movement Therapy in the Fall of 2016. As a Dance/Movement Therapist in the field, I worked with older adults with severe and persistent mental illness, high risk youth, and adults who experienced severe trauma. My primary beliefs, values, and ethics surround respect for humans and respect for humans’ identities & cultures. I am passionate about the ability to meet people where they are both verbally and non-verbally in order to create space for engagement to work with clients with integrity towards their goals. Along with my DMT practice, I am currently finishing my Masters in Social Work at Fordham University.</image:caption>
